China’s Anhui Province Departs First Freight Train to Budapest

A freight train with 20 containers and a cargo worth almost 10 million euros left Hefei, China, for Budapest. This is the first railway delivery of goods between the two cities in history.

The trip will take from 16 to 18 days, which is much faster than shipping cargo by sea, and will cover more than 10 thousand kilometers.

The containers are filled with products such as solar panel components, electrical machines and inverters made in China’s Anhui province, of which Hefei is the capital.

However, this is not China’s first freight train to Europe. Anhui launched the service in 2014, and since then, there have been 2,500 trips to 85 cities in 18 countries.

This year, 500 freight train trips were made between China and Europe.
