A shocking video captured the moment football fans clashed during Sydney FC’s victory over Central Coast on Sunday.

The horrific incident overshadowed Sydney FC’s spectacular penalty shoot-out victory over the Mariners at the Leichhardt Stadium in the Australian Cup Round of 16.

The video shows that the fans outside the stadium almost got into a fight due to the fact that flares, roadblocks and stones were thrown.

Veteran football journalist Ray Gutt shared the video on Twitter and said that fans are not supporting the Mariners.

Former reporter for The Australian Gatt called those involved “idiots” and “morons”.

NRL journalist Brad Walter tweeted that members should not identify themselves as fans.

Sydney won the competition in an epic shoot-out 3-1 after the teams were level at 3-3 at the end of extra time.

It was Socceroos hero Andy Redmayne who took the lead to win the game for Sydney during the penalty shoot-out, saving three shots, two of which missed.

The Mariners took the game into extra time, equalizing in the 95th minute.
