The number of vacancies fell in June, but remains much higher than before the pandemic

Small correction. The number of vacancies has been decreasing every month since the March maximum. This is three consecutive months of decline. I apologize for the mistake in counting the months, it’s August now, but the data is for June.

Hiring continues to outpace layoffs in every major sector as workers seek and find new jobs. Churn remains highest in the low-income housing and catering segment. The rise in wages in this sector suggests that workers are finding better jobs after being laid off. pic.twitter.com/JbNQv4Dub0

The hiring rate in the accommodation and catering services sector rose for two consecutive months, although the layoff rate remains the highest in all sectors.
