Following the Center’s decision to withdraw the Personal Data Protection Bill, Union Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar assured on 4 August that the Union Government would soon develop a comprehensive framework for global standard laws. “The reason for the withdrawal of the Personal Data Protection Bill is very simple. While the JPC made a number of very detailed recommendations in its report, many of the recommendations, while relevant, were not covered by the Privacy and Data Protection Act,” he said.
