Fossil-Free Electric Vehicle Batteries: Fossil-Free Battery Manufacturing

The Volvo Group announced the transition to fossil fuel-free battery production with the opening of a new dedicated plant in Skaraborg, Sweden. At this facility, the Volvo Group will work with its partners to produce a large number of EV batteries for use in commercial vehicles such as larger trucks. These batteries will be produced without the use of fossil fuels, which means that both the production and use of these batteries are environmentally friendly. At present, the Volvo Group has not specified who its partners in this venture are.

Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt said “there is already strong demand from our customers today and we aim to have at least 35% of the products we sell by 2030 be electric”, showing that the company is meeting consumer demand while striving for a sustainable future.
