DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas native and professional golfer Travis Wadkins is accused of assaulting two police officers during his Aug. 2 arrest. 2 for drunkenness in public places.
It all started after Wadkins allegedly began abusing employees at Terrelli’s restaurant on Greenville Avenue on Tuesday night.
The police were called, and when they showed up, they found Wadkins drunk and incoherent, according to police records. They arrested him without incident and sent him to the city detention center.
According to the police, it was then that the situation escalated.
While officers were treating Wadkins, he allegedly said, “Yeah,” and then kicked one officer so hard that he tore her ligaments, dislocating her kneecap. He also allegedly spat on another officer.
According to police records, Wadkins “showed no remorse” and then began to laugh mockingly like the “Joker”.
After a violent exchange, officers restrained Wadkins, then carried him out of the detention center and placed him in a patrol car. He was then transferred to Lew Sterrett Prison.
The officer he kicked had to undergo surgery to repair his left knee but is expected to recover.
